Dr. Shanthan Pendem

Critical Care

Dr. Shanthan Pendem, M.D., FACP, is a board-certified intensivist and critical care physician with over 20 years of experience in pulmonary and critical care medicine. He has been serving with Gwinnett Pulmonary & Sleep since 2015, providing expert care in intensive care units across multiple hospital systems, including Northside Medical Center. Dr. Pendem has extensive experience managing critically ill patients with complex respiratory and medical conditions, with a strong focus on evidence-based critical care and advanced life support. Prior to joining the practice, he held intensivist and leadership roles at several respected institutions, including Emory St. Joseph’s Hospital, where he served as Medical Director of the CCU. Dr. Pendem completed his critical care fellowship at the Mayo Clinic following his internal medicine residency in New York, and he remains actively involved in academic medicine and research, with multiple peer-reviewed publications in critical care. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and a member of the Society of Critical Care Medicine.
